After graduating in Physics at Milan University, he completed his studies in 1976 at the University of Chicago. In the frame of the systematic research activity being carried out at STMicroelectronics, he has, since 1989, been leading the group investigating developments in the fields of Fuzzy Sets and Soft Computing.

Graduated in Theoretical Physics at Naples University, where he carried out research in Cosmology and Relativistic Fluorodynamics. In 1987, he became head of the Catania Soft Computing laboratory for VLSI Architecture design and the integrated solutions of systems based on Soft Computing methodologies.
Maria Gabriella Xibilia
University of Messina
A graduate in Electronic Engineering at Catania University, where she also received her Ph.D. degree in Engineering. Since 1998, she has held the post of Researcher in Automotive at the Messina University Engineering Faculty.
Luigi Fortuna
University of Catania
Graduated in Electronic Engineering at Catania University, where since 1995 he has been Full Professor of Adaptive Systems in the Engineering Faculty. In 1998 he was appointed as head of the degree course in Electronic Engineering
Giuseppe Nunnari
University of Catania
A graduate in Electronic Engineering at Catania University, he was then a researcher for the National Research Council (CNR) at the International Institute of Vulcanology in Catania. Since 1992, he has been Associate Professor of Systems Theory at the Faculty of Engineering.

Since 1985, he has worked as a consultant in software development, with a particular interest in Object Oriented programming, Software Patterns, network applications, and low-level programming. Since 1997, he has been working with the soft computing group of STMicroelectronics.
